Member of the Month
Yufa Liu, Ph.D.
Yufa is a business oriented technologist with keen interest in
different cultures. He is currently leading a new product development
team at Kemin Health, a division of Kemin Industries, Inc. Outside
work, he is very active in participating community services and
promoting cultural understanding. He is a board member of the Chinese
Association of Iowa (CAI) and a member of Nexus Toastmaster Club.
He is instrumental to the success of CAI’s cultural training
program. He is also the coordinator for the monthly Chinese luncheon.
Recently, Yufa appeared on Des Moines Register for volunteering
at Habitat for Humanity.
Yufa obtained his BS degree in chemistry from Peking University
in Beijing and PhD in chemistry from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
He completed a short postdoctoral training at Duke University in
North Carolina. His industrial experience ranged from pharmaceutical
to nutraceutical. He has a business bridge certificate from Tuck
Business School and expects to receive his MBA from the University
of Iowa in December.
Yufa is an active member in Chinese communities in every place
he has been including New Hampshire, North Carolina, Maryland, and
Iowa. He has made many friends from almost every continent via his
out-going personality and his strong interests in different cultures.
Yufa lives in West Des Moines with his wife Shirley, son Johnny,
and daughter Alinah.
