Members and Membership
Members
The Chinese Association of Iowa (CAI) has over 160 members with
over 550 on its mailing list. Our members are mostly from Central
Iowa including Ames but also includes members from the Iowa City
and Davenport areas.
Membership
The Chinese Association of Iowa has revised its policy on the membership
applications. Its CAI Executive Committee approved this policy on
June 2, 2007,
which became effect on July 1, 2007.
Individual membership: $10
per calendar year.
The full payment need to be made before October 1 for the current
year’s membership. A payment made after that day is considered
for the following year’s membership fee.
Family: $25 per
calendar year
The full payment need to be made before October 1 for the current
year’s membership. A payment made after that day is considered
for the following year’s membership fee.
Lifetime membership: $500.
This should be a one-time payment with specified purpose for a
lifetime membership. It cannot be made in the form of any other
donations or contributions, such as a donation through the United
Way or a contribution to any single event.
As an addendum to the new policy, a CAI member who had donated
an aggregate amount of $500 or more in the form of donations and
membership dues in the past five years (5/31/2002-6/1/2007) is also
qualified for a lifetime membership. Please contact Membership Committee

or CAI Treasurer Zhu Min (Min.zhu@adesa.com) for details. Make sure
you provide them with original document(s) evidencing your donations/payments
of membership dues. This policy does not apply to any donations
or contributions made after June 1, 2007.
Business membership: $100
per calendar year.
Non-profit organization membership:
$50 per calendar year.

Member Benefits
The Chinese Association of Iowa serves the Chinese community but
also brings special benefits to its paid members. The members fall
into two categories, individual/family/ lifetime membership and
business membership. The benefits are described below.
Individual/Family/Life-time
- Free advertising of personal items on the CAI’s yahoo-group
email.
- Discount on visa/passport application processing
- Discount on meals provided at various CAI events
- Discount on admission fees on some of the charged performances
- Discount on CAI properties rentals
- Community support (job referral, resume, lawsuit, family emergency,
etc.)
Business membership
- Advertising on the CAI’s website
- Discount on booths at major CAI’s events subject to availability
- Discount rate on CAI properties rentals
- Discount rate on CAI training

The Chinese Association of Iowa (CAI) is a legal, non-profit
corporation, 501(3)(C) registered in the State of Iowa pursuant
to the Code of Iowa, Chapter 504A. This tax exempt status
also allows people and organizations who make contributions
to CAI.
